I really loved distributing our symbol the first time round. We had so much luck, the public embraced it and thought it was a really great idea. The second time we distributed we didn’t have as much luck. People weren’t as ready to participate and it felt like a chore distributing. I’m glad we were able to experience a successful distribution the first time!

intangible symbols
I have chose the symbol of the hand as it represents astrology and palm reading. It also evokes emotions of spirituality and a certain lifestyle.
I was sick dring the esson for intangible symbols so I found it difficult to explore what they were, I believe intangible symbols are a symbol for an idea rather than an action or event. I have chosen star signs as each of these symbols represents characteristics of people as well as a belief in astrology.

Pixel Portraits
I had a lot of fun doing this exercise. I am happy with the result. I found it hard to be so rough with my lines and not be able to pay attention to small details but I really enjoyed creating these pixel portraits. I find it interesting that you can create the illusion of curves even though its only made out of small ‘pixel’ squares.

Revolutionary symbols
This picture was discussed during our lecture, I found this album cover interesting although i’m not sure the symbol of the cap has changed all that much as there is still a sense of triumph and revolutionary spirit although it is modernised through the thick bold text.
This album cover, uses the symbol we discussed in our lecture. I thought
this was an interesting punk type adaptation of the symbol. Through its
design I feel it loses a lot of its meaning and isn’t used tactfully.
The Nazi symbol resembles the Buddhist symbol for resignation. With knowledge of WWII the ancient symbol which came about long before the swastika has now changed the meaning of the buddhist symbol.

Group Logo - Duel Thought
This is our groups logo. Our word we played with
was 'challenge'. The chess piece reflects our aim to
challenge the publics thoughts and knowledge and
this is also reflected by the two faces found in the
negative space outside the chess piece. I am very
happy with our groups effort and our logos outcome.

Directional Symbols
This directional symbol points to the entrance
to the store and it also gives indication to what
is sold.
This directional symbol clearly tells
when and where to walk without using any
arrows.
The walking man symbol not only gives
direction but also shows the purpose of the
pedestrian crossing.
This coffee shop uses graffiti to direct
people to and into the shop. The illustration
of the tired man shows the direction of both
the coffee shop and the product being sold.
This bus stop sign clearly shows us that this is
where we must wait in order to catch a bus,
without using words or arrows.
